Christmas 2009

Well here I am late again as usual updating the blog. Sorry for anyone who was waiting for info :) I have a few pictures of the tree that Mary and Faith decorated all with Disney ornaments. We only had 1 tree this year since we were a little slow getting everything out. We just used disney ornaments because we only have a few weeks until the disney trip and we are all getting excited! Also Faith and Mary hung up the stockings on the mantle. And last but not least they decorated the house with nativity scenes and the stairway with greenery and ornaments.
Christmas was a nice cozy affair this year. It was only dimmed by the fact that I was on call; but even that turned out well, so I have no reason to complain! Bub, Scott and Dean showed up early in the week to help get everything ready for the celebration. Dean is a little noisy at times but he is kind of sweet sometimes too, except I think that he is only sweet to his mom, his dad and maybe Faith. He loves Faith, he likes to sit on her, chase her and kiss her so he is sweet sometimes :) Becca was here on christmas eve all by her lonesome, but Tim and Little Tim showed up Christmas afternoon. We had a white christmas this year which was a nice change of pace. I had 1 patient to see on christmas, 2 on saturday and then 1 on sunday so it really worked out well being on call.

Christmas eve started with a sleet/snow storm around 11 and the wind howled and covered everything. It was lucky that all my patients were in Winfield that I was scheduled to go and see. I heard that the storm was really bad the further you got outside of town.

Christmas morning started here at 7:20am, I made coffee first thing while everyone ran to their stockings. Dean and his parents were already up looking at the goodies that Santa had brought. Dean got a dvd player that will keep him occupied for a lifetime :) And he also got a big ride on train that he started getting into before he had to leave to go home.

Faith got new disney dressup clothes from Santa and was very happy about that; she was concerned when she got underwear and socks in her stocking but I told her that a female elf probably picked them out not Santa. Mary got clothes and books from Santa and luggage from my mom and dad to pack for the disney trip, so she was happy too.
Faith got a surprise from Becca and Me - a new christmas dress to wear to church christmas morning. I did fail to get a picture of that but it looked really really cute on her and she was very well behaved at church according to Becca.
So another christmas is gone by and it is already new years eve! My plan for tonight is to do alot of eating and drinking and sleep in late tomorrow. Maybe we will get a chance to watch some of the new movies that we got for christmas. Who knows when I will update again but when I do I am sure it will be 2010. Happy New Year to everyone!

Faith gets the H1N1

Faith has the H1N1 - she started running a fever on Sunday night and it has never gone away. She didn't have any other complaints except that she was cold and hurting with various aches and pains. When she ended up having a bad night last night with Advil and Tylenol not helping I knew it was time to call the Pros - So I called Jane and she called an order to the lab at the hospital for Faith to get swabbed for the H1N1. I tried to explain a little bit to Faith before we got there that she and I would both need to wear masks when we got in the doors and that she would get tested in the lab. She was worried that her throat was going to get swabbed like when she had strep throat and she knew that was no fun. I told her that it was a test with the nose and she would be a big girl and it would be over fast. She did cry when she got the test done but she didn't throw a fit and she was not bad she was just upset and said that it hurt her nose. She got to meet Dr Daehkne on her way out of the hospital. He was concerned that she was crying, I tried to explain why she was crying and that she had just had her nose swabbed and he thought that she had had her shot and that was why she was crying. She cheered up a little talking to him so that was nice. He is a very nice man to stop and try to cheer up a little one, especially one that he didn't even know.

Here are a few pics of Faith sleeping. She has been really good and not too whiney so I am lucky with that. I feel bad missing work but it is nice to be here with her, and it is good that I am not putting too much on my mom. I am lucky to have gotten the Tamiflu for me so that I will be able to go back to work this week, hopefully on Thursday if I have no symptoms. I am hoping that Faith will be feelilng better to go to school next week.

Mary feels really bad for Faith about the nose swab and would not have consented to get a swab done herself so it is good that she is not sick. She has been very sweet to Faith and trying to be helpful for me and that is just the nicest thing since she is a grumpy teenager but is not acting that way at this time!
I have not posted any pics of Mary with her red hair so I will do that here. This pic is so cute with Katie and her both having red hair - love the lipstick Katie! Mary is having alot of projects to do at school. It sounds like a lot of work so hopefully she will do well with all of it. I guess there is some sort of 3D cell project for science, a holocaust scrapbook for English and a tour guide poster for World History.

This pic is from a while ago but I liked it since they both looked so cute. It looks like a day that they were making popcorn for movies or something. Katie is so cute in glasses. And I must say that I liked Mary with purple hair better than red. The red is cute and a nice change but I miss the purple...

Well this weekend we had plenty of visitors. Faith had Mads spend the night on Friday and Becca took both girls to the church fall festival at the fair grounds on saturday. Dad went to the KSU game and had a wonderful time with that. He got to see in person KSU beat KU...HAHA. I got to watch the game on the big screen in dad's favorite chair with Tim (Becs boyfriend). Tim got to come and visit the family this weekend and I guess Mads asked Bec where he was sleeping...LOL. He slept in Bubs room so that was not a problem. I found it hilarious that Mads is worried about Becca's soul - I should not be surprised - she is the sweetest kid and very religious - just as a kid should be.

Mom did a craft booth at the church fall festival and I think that it went well for her, she has been doing a lot of cute stuff. I wish that I could be as crafty as she is :) It was funny since Libby, Margaret and Ashley came over to help mom carry in all of her stuff from the craft booth and they got to meet Tim. I think that he will be here for Thanksgiving though so he will get to meet the entire family then! Good luck to Tim! When there are a ton of us together it is hard to get a word in edgewise. He did get to see my mom smack me for cussing this weekend so I think that he is getting the idea about what this family is about! Mom is the boss and we all try to stay out of the way!!! Also, I cuss alot so I need to work on that :) I thought that it was very nice when Bec told Tim that Faith was sick with the flu he asked if they should come and help take care of her - isn't that nice. I guess he has learned that kids are always first ~ he will have to know that being around this household :) I will have to try to get a picture of Bec and Tim together so I can post that.

Faith has PJ day at school and Halloween costume day today!

Faith spent some time watching Alice in Wonderland last night and was all ready to dress up today for her halloween party at school this morning. She also gets to take sacks of party favors for the students in her class to take home. She was very happy about getting to do the take home party favors.

Faith's PJ day was yesterday and she wore her High School Musical Waffle PJs. She wanted to wear one of her ruffly velvet night gowns but since is was raining I talked her out of that! I liked this picture since you can see her tummy :)
Well this is just a short blog today, just wanted to share the pics.

Faith looses her 2 front teeth! Mary goes to homecoming!

Toothless Uncle Lou!

This is a funny picture of Faith with her 2 front teeth missing. I was having a hard time getting her picture without her blinking! We love to read Junie B books and there is one when Junie B looses her front tooth and is worried she will look like toothless Uncle Lou - so I have been teasing Faith saying that she is toothless Unlce Lou just like Junie B...Faith has been really good lately about doing her homework and reading. She started out having trouble with spelling and I wondered if she would continue being challenged with spelling her whole life - like Bub and Mom but it is safe to say that we just needed to do some more studying and that helped alot. Last week she only missed 1 on her list so that is great!

Faith has been having Maddie (or Mads as she calls her) to sleep over and play. I got tons of pictures of them dressed up in princess outfits.
Mads is also missing her front teeth in this picture. They are both so sweet and good. They go to bed early with me and sleep in the big bed with me. We put on story time cds to listen to - Ofcourse Junie B is what they love! But sometimes I get them to listen to the Box Car Childred which is one of my all time favorite books! They listen to the story and color or look at books and are just great kids.
Ok I had to put in a pic of Disney World! We just got our family trip finalized. Bub, Scott and Dean get to go with us. Bub is pregnant and was not sure if she would be able to go in January but she found out that she can go. We will also be taking Katie with us for Mary to have a friend to ride the scary rides with. I think that we will have a great time, we will be gone a week and stay at Saratoga Springs in a huge tree house. This is a different area than we have stayed at in the past but I am sure that it will be awesome. I can't wait to eat at Cinderella's castle with the girls I think that they will like it! Cinderella is my all time favorite so I love going to the castle...maybe I can get my picture with her this time :)

WHS homecoming 2009
Mary went to homecoming with her friends. Mary is in a 'cool club outfit' I got to go shopping with her to help her pick it out at Maurices. I also played the mom card on Katie and Mary and sat them down to tell them that they better not be doing the grinding dancing stuff at the dance on any boys. Also that if I heard they had done that I would be signing up to be a chaperone the next time. I do not know all the girls here in the pictures but I wanted to be sure to get a picture of Katie with her red hair. I love the red hair and I think that it looks so good!

Katie and Mary had a great day that day of homecoming. They went to eat supper with their friends at El Maguey and then they all went over to Katie's to get ready. Katie's mom must have taken this awesome pictures and luckily shared them with me.

Well, I have not been posting weekly so I guess I am going to have to try to post monthly and then be pleasantly surprised when I do it more than 1x monthly - we will see what happens :)

The first 2 weeks of school!

Faith had quite an eventful first two weeks of second grade. She had STREP THROAT on the second day of school and missed the rest of the first week! On her first day back to school she had an accident on the play ground...one of the other girls bounced her off the teeter totter. She was hit in the chin and mouth by the seat, leaving her with a swollen lip, large bruise to the chin, and a few loose teeth! She had a large chunk of skin on the inside of her mouth missing as well. I was worried that it had broken through but it is healing up fine. This weekend she has had a chance to complete all of her homework from when she missed and her bruise is turning yellow...Mary thinks it looks moldy! Lol. Faith is seated working on her homework at the dining table with Aunt Becca there for moral support. At least she is in a good mood for this picture...she was pretty irritable with doing homework this weekend...I also have a pic of her dressed up as Sharpay and she really likes to dress up. Too bad I missed getting pics of the cousins this weekend when they played dress up...here is one of Faith though.

Mary's first two weeks of school have been very uneventful. Since she's a teenager I don't expect much more than a grump and a groan regarding questions of school. She does however help so much around the house that we have started to refer to her as Cinderella which probably irritates her. She did do a good job at farmers market this weekend all though K. D. (Katie) was not there for moral support. Katie was at her house and was quite busy there; she usually comes over every Friday night and hangs out sometimes during the week whenever she feels like it and now she is basically my other daughter. This pic shows Mary - she has mastered the 'bored' look. She has some purple in her hair which was the only color that Caps would agree to. I was fine with it, teenagers need to express themselves sometimes....besides I think that it looks artsy. K.D. also has color in her hair, it started out turquoise but is now a greenish color - green is my favorite color so that is fine with me. With K.D.'s pixie cut it looks amazing!

Mom seemed to have a fair turn out with Grandma & Girls at farmers market. She did tons of baking on friday and lots of crafts during the week and seems to enjoy farmers market on Saturday mornings. She even made Raspberry Brownies which is Melinda and her daughter Katie's favorites. Mom made it in the paper as well and there was a pic of her with Mary...I will try to upload it from winfieldcourier.com

Becca was here this weekend we celebrated her birthday. I won't tell you how old she is but she looks 16 and I could probably pass as her mother. She seemed to have a good birthday, we made a mexican feast with my prize winning enchilada torte and tacos, tostadas, and taquitos! It was all delish and I am still very full.
I have a pic of Bub (Laura), Me and Bec that was taken a while ago, but we still look mostly the same :) I am sporting my Bill O'Reilly jacket - I love that guy :)

Bub and Scotty B. brought Dean to help us celebrate. Bub also brought Baskin Robbin's Ice Cream Pies for Becca's Birthday dessert which was nice so Becca didn't have to make her own dessert. Bub is PREGNANT so we couldn't drink and we got to enjoy the morning sickness along with her this morning before they drove back to Kansas City. A puke bucket was offered for the road however she was already prepared. Dean has seemed to age to a five year old due to the buzz cut provided by his father. All of the cute baby curls are gone...we wish the screaming was gone but he will grow up soon. He loves watching Kung Fu Panda with his Aunt Bunny (ME). His father Scott knows every word. I found some pics of Dean with his curls and without playing with Faith this weekend...so everyone can see what I am talking about. I kept telling Bub and Scott that he needed a hair cut. Soon he will be a big brother so he needs to stop being babied :)

Caps (dad) was here this weekend spent tons of time in the garden, helped with farmers market, mowed the lawn, watched movies with his daughters, and graduated from Six Sigma Black Belt. He says the only Black belts he ever met were a$$ holes. We told him it was time to break the mold and some one nice should have a black belt, so he has succeeded and we are all very very proud of him. Here is a pic with him seated in his favorite chair probably watching something on tv. He needs to have a chance to relax when he is at home!

This last picture is of Faith's build-a-bear puppy named Cutie she is dressed up in dress-up clothes as tinkerbell. I thought that it looked cute and so did Faith. It even has a wand and wings for the dog. Faith loves build-a-bear and spends time playing it on the computer.
